Vegan Restaurants in Regina: The Hampton Hub

The Hampton Hub is Regina's 100% vegan restaurant. This one topped my list when it came to restaurants to try in Regina, and it did not disappoint. Owned by brothers Tiro, Thabo, and Mandla Mthembu, they aim to serve delicious food while being both eco-friendly and socially conscious.

The brothers were inspired by activist and Black Panther party member, Fred Hampton, and named the restaurant after him. The eatery doubles as a community space to discuss and bring awareness to important local and worldwide issues. The Hampton Hub hosts "Teach-in Tuesdays" where members from the community learn from guest speakers who highlight various topics of concern.
At the same time, The Hampton Hub serves up delectable plant-based eats. They're always rotating their menu, with past features like tofu wings, sandwiches, soups, burritos, nachos and tacos. When I dined here, there were a few different pizzas on the menu. My pesto pizza had toppings like broccoli and tofu feta, and it was one of the best pizzas I'd had in a while.
Vegan Restaurants in Regina: 13th Avenue Food and Coffee House

13th Avenue Food and Coffee House is a longstanding vegetarian-friendly cafe in the Cathedral neighbourhood of Regina. While it isn't an entirely vegetarian and vegan restaurant, they've always been committed to offering a good amount of veg-friendly dishes on the menu for many years.

The vegan dishes are all marked with a V (also, GF for gluten-free and N means that it contains nuts), so the menu is pretty easy to navigate. There are several veggie burgers, though most are vegetarian and not vegan. The bowls are where 13th Avenue Coffee truly shines for vegan options.
Try one of their noodle bowls, rice bowls or stews for hearty and healthy vegan options. I ordered the lucky bowl with peanut sauce, marinated tofu, tomato, cucumber, bean sprouts, grated carrot and bell pepper. There's also a sushi bowl, green curry, noodle bowl and sweet potato lentil stew. Next time, I'll have to try one of those vegan chocolate raspberry cookies.
Vegan Restaurants in Regina: Bar Willow

Bar Willow is located in Wascana Park and it's known for having the largest deck patio in the city. It overlooks Wascana Lake and it's a beautiful place to watch the sunset. On occasion, there's live music to enjoy with your food and drink, though it's a great spot any day of the week.

On their all day menu, there are quite a few selections marked as vegan or "voa" (vegan option available). For shareables and snacks, try the crispy fried artichokes, chips & dips, veggie corn tacos or fries. For bigger plates, the vegan option is the Moroccan artichoke tajine and there are some salads as well.
For my main, I ordered the avocado toast on homemade foccacia with a side of fries. To start, the chips and dip came with guacamole and pico de gallo. I was obviously in the mood for avocado and had zero regrets!
Vegan Restaurants in Regina: Abstractions Cafe

Abstractions Cafe has a long history of serving the people of Regina delicious meals since 2003. This cozy establishment is situated inside a house built at the turn of the 20th century. Over the years, it's been home to a residence, a recording studio, an art gallery, a music venue, and of course, a restaurant.

The Mitri family immigrated from Syria and create Mediterranean dishes, with quite a few of them being naturally vegetarian/vegan. There's hummus, baba ganoush, spinach salad, tabbouleh, grilled zaatar and a falafel wrap.
I paired my falafel wrap and spinach salad with a wildberry iced tea that was super refreshing. For treats, the katayef is vegan, which I will need to try next time! While not totally plant-based, this is one of the best vegan restaurants in Regina as a spot that's always been quite vegan-friendly.
Vegan Restaurants in Regina: Tangerine

Tangerine is a firm believer in using fresh, in-season ingredients to create dishes from scratch, everyday. Their menu is written on a chalkboard on the wall and it will regularly change depending on what's in season and can be sourced locally. It's a really vegan-friendly place in town with "V" denoting the vegan offerings.

I'd love to return to try a hummus wrap or one of their vegan bowls. On this occasion, I stopped by a little bit between breakfast and lunch and opted for a coffee and a dessert. This vegan peanut butter chocolate treat was rich and divine. I suggest sharing it with a friend!
Vegan Restaurants in Regina: The M:eating Room

With a name like The M:eating Room, you'd never guess that this was a vegan restaurant in Regina. It isn't entirely vegan, but it's super vegan-friendly. Don't let the fact that it's located in a strip mall deter you either. The food is fresh and delicious, and the staff is really helpful and friendly.

There are two vegan pizzas out of their menu of specialty brick oven pizzas, the loaded vegan and the roasted vegan. There are also several rice bowls, pitas and shareables that are veggie as well. Even in their freezer, there are pints of vegan ice cream and ice cream bars.
Vegan Restaurants in Regina: Victoria's Tavern

Victoria's Tavern is one of the top vegan restaurants in Regina with quite a few vegan selections on their menu. This is a great spot for a pint and perhaps a gathering with your vegan and omnivore pals as there's something for everyone here.

While they have two locations, their restaurant downtown is housed in a building with a unique history. Built in 1923, this old bank building still has the original bank vault, as well as a charming wooden interior.
On the menu, the vegan choices are marked with a "p" for plant-based or "pbo" for plant-based option. I chose a vegan quesadilla and tater tots that was ooey-gooey delish. There's also a veggie burger with vegan cheese, a Korean bowl, plant-based nachos, and even a vegan grilled cheese.
Breakfast Bistro

Breakfast Bistro is one of the best vegan breakfast restaurants in Regina with tons of vegan options on the menu. By day, the restaurant is Breakfast Bistro and by night, it transforms to become Luna Kitchen and Bar. Be sure to pair your meal with a hot or iced coffee, especially if you're a coffee fiend like I am.

The tofu shakshuka was awfully tempting, but in the end, I chose the vegan Belgian waffle topped with fresh fruit. The waffles come with a side of oven roasted potatoes. This was such a great way to start the day off right as the meal was tasty and really filling, too.
Skye Cafe & Bistro

Skye Cafe & Bistro is located in Wascana Park, right beside the Saskatchewan Science Centre. This is a really popular spot, so book a table in advance if you can. There's dining both indoors and outside on the patio (I loved the patio on a nice day!).
This restaurant focuses on fresh, local and organic ingredients, paying close attention to sustainability through reducing waste and having a lower carbon footprint. I'm also very pleased that they offer some vegan dishes, which are naturally kinder to the environment.
I highly recommend trying the vegan black bean tacos, since I thought they were super tasty. There's also a vegan Mediterranean bowl, avocado chilaquiles, and a roasted beet rainbow salad.
Fresh & Sweet

"If you are what you eat, then make it fresh and sweet!" Ah, I love their slogan! Fresh & Sweet is a darling breakfast and lunch joint in downtown Regina. I dined there for breakfast one morning and was really impressed with their plant-based menu options and grab and go items. The vegan banana cookie was a delicious snack later that day, though I could see many of you opting for one of the vegan pumpkin scones.

I ordered the vegan bowl: peppers, green onions, mushrooms, tomatoes sautéed and served on some yummy hash with black beans, served with salsa. The potatoes and veggies with the salsa was a great way to start the day. The iced coffee was really refreshing as well.
Craft Services by Crave

Craft Services by Crave is a little cafe and lunch counter inside the MacKenzie Art Gallery. This is a really convenient choice for lunch after browsing the art gallery, plus the food is really delicious, too. Be sure to stop for coffee while you're here.

I wouldn't say that the avocado toast was anything too special as I had to remove some of the toppings (mainly the cheese) to make it vegan. However, the quinoa, black bean and corn salad was really flavourful and I'd order that one again without any hesitation.
Rebellion Brewing Co

Located in the heart of Regina's Warehouse District, Rebellion Brewing Company has been an important part of Regina's craft brewing scene since 2014. They serve up everything from easy drinking lagers to beer made from Saskatchewan-grown lentils.

At their taproom, Rebellion serves a menu of Mexican cuisine prepared by Tropezon. While only the vegetarian items are marked as such, it's easy to request for some of them to be prepared vegan. I tried the chips and guacamole/salsa, and a trio of vegan tacos. Who knew that a brewery could also be one of the best vegan restaurants in Regina?
Brewed Awakening

Brewed Awakening is a vegan-friendly coffee shop that offers a variety of plant-based milks and vegan treats at the counter. They have three locations in Regina and one in Calgary. The original location is on Prince of Wales Drive. I frequented that location and the one downtown.

BRWD Bagel is only offered at the Prince of Wales location. There's a veggie bagel option where they'll sub the cream cheese for avocado to make it vegan. Please note that BRWD Bagel is not at the downtown location. They do have a veggie sandwich there that's vegan, but it isn't on a bagel.
The Everyday Kitchen

The Everyday Kitchen is located in a great spot in Regina, within the same building as Dandy's Artisan Ice Cream and the Mortise & Tenon eco shop. They have a second location in town, too. This is a fabulous coffee shop in Regina that has some vegan offerings, too.

There's a vegan bagel sandwich with smoked tofu and sundried tomato hummus. In addition, some of the baked goods are vegan. These aren't marked as such, but just ask your barista. I had a vegan cookie that was delicious! Stop by for a coffee, a little bit of shopping, and then some vegan ice cream at Dandy's next door.
Elle's Cafe

While Elle's Cafe is known for its food and coffee, I stopped by entirely for its outdoor ice cream window. Specifically, Elle's Cafe serves up four refreshing flavours of Dole Whip.

Two of these are vegan-friendly and they're usually the fruit flavours. I had the pineapple watermelon swirl and it delivered summery tropical vibes. Pop by for a treat on a hot day!
Dandy's Artisan Ice Cream

Dandy's Artisan Ice Cream serves up decadent ice cream, made from scratch in small batches. They create premium, innovative flavours that you won't find anywhere else. Of course, they have a great selection of dairy-free ice cream, otherwise I wouldn't have included it in this "best vegan restaurants in Regina" guide!

When I visited, there were five vegan ice creams marked with a V: salted chocolate caramel brookie, coconut ash honeycomb, chocolate puffed quinoa, Nanaimo bar and key lime pie.
They allow you to sample any ice cream that you'd like, so I tried all of them. While they were all really tasty, the winning one was the chocolate puffed quinoa. It was something about the little crunchy bits in the chocolate ice cream that was perfection!
82 Bakeshop X 82 Vegan

82 Bakeshop X 82 Vegan is a bakery that creates healthier desserts using less sugar. They also cater to customers seeking gluten-free and vegan treats, whether it's from an allergy or a dietary preference.

There are quite a few vegan desserts that are marked as VG. Try their cheesecakes (blueberry, raspberry or chocolate), Ferrero Rocher cookie, lemon earl gray cookie or vanilla bean canelé. The Ferrero Rocher cookie was the one I chose and loved, though I don't think you could go wrong with any of these options.
Naked Bean Espresso Bar & Cafe

Naked Bean Espresso Bar & Cafe is another amazing coffee shop in Regina with vegan options. There's plant-based milk for your coffee and quite a few vegan treats at the front counter. Try a sea salt double chocolate cookie or banana chocolate chip muffin.

In their refrigerated case, there are 4-packs of vegan chocolate cupcakes that you can take home with you. Looking for lunch? Try the rainbow chickpea salad wrap that's available as a grab-and-go item.
Filigree Chocolaterie

And now that I've covered all of the best vegan restaurants in Regina, let's talk...chocolate! There is an artisan chocolate shop in Regina with quite a few plant-based treats. Filigree Chocolaterie in Cathedral Village is a beautiful shop where you'll be instantly put into an amazing mood when you walk into the shop. Of course, the whole place smells like chocolate!

Their vegan chocolates are clearly marked as such, and I felt spoiled for choice. There are vegan hazelnut truffles, a caramel crunch chocolate bar, a crunchy hazelnut praline heart (that's super colourful and beautiful) and chocolate peanut butter cups.
