Lauren is the owner, founder, and full time travel blogger behind Justin Plus Lauren. She started this travel blog in 2013 and her second website, Ontario Hiking in 2020.

Justin works with Lauren to create stunning visual content for JPL, specializing in beautiful cinematic and vlog-style videos for our YouTube channel.

Education Background

Lauren attended university for English literature, as well as college for television broadcasting. Justin attended college for film and media.

Career Background

Lauren was a video editor in the television industry for 12 years, working for CTV and TSN (Bell Media). She left her full time TV career at the end of 2018 to pursue a full time blogging career. Justin currently works in the TV industry as a video editor for CTV and TSN (Bell Media). Yes, it is how we met!

Lauren has a second website called Ontario Hiking with has a popular Facebook group with 130,000+ members and a weekly newsletter of 25,000 subscribers. She also hosts quarterly virtual hiking challenges once per season with hundreds of participants.

Giving Back

Lauren is passionate about using travel to make the world a better place.

Lauren has visited Kenya to volunteer on a wildlife preserve, working on citizen science projects to help endangered giraffes. She used her photography skills to capture images of giraffes from afar to track the giraffes. In Kenya, Lauren also worked on anti-poaching efforts by removing wire snares from the property, helping fill truckloads of metal!

She visited Guatemala working at a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center. Animals that are victims of wildlife trafficking come to the center. The eventual goal is to release the animals back into the wild when it's possible. It can take up to 4 years to rehabilitate a parrot and up to 8 years to rehabilitate a monkey.

Lauren traveled to Peru as the ambassador for TripToGo's Warm Water on the Go program. This initiative provides solar panel water heaters to rural Andean families, improving health, wellness and comfort.
