It’s easy being vegan in Strasbourg! Despite the rumors that France isn’t a vegan-friendly country, it really couldn’t be farther from the truth. There are so many Strasbourg vegan restaurants and vegan-friendly establishments to visit. You just need to know where to look for the best spots.
I’m here to help you! Back when I first wrote this guide in 2018, it was shortly after we visited Strasbourg and ate all kinds of delicious meals. Since then, the amount of vegan restaurants in Strasbourg has grown even more. So, I’ve decided to update the guide to include all of my favorite spots, plus even more to check out when you go there.

There’s something for everyone when it comes to dining vegan in Strasbourg. There’s burgers, pizza, vegan cheese, healthy bowls, and decadent desserts. Come and travel to Strasbourg with me through these delicious meals. Then, you’ll have to visit to try them for yourself.
Strasbourg Vegan Restaurants: Vélicious
Vélicious is a cozy vegan restaurant and cafe serving up organic, plant-based cuisine. There are inspiring quotes promoting veganism on the restaurant’s walls, as well as a listing of celebrity vegetarians and vegans.
At the front entrance, there’s a small grocery area, and a display case filled with desserts. We dined up top, overlooking the baked goods. This was a dangerous move because I was eyeing all of those treats while we were waiting for our food to be made.
However, in the end, we went away with two of our favorite chocolate bars in the world (Vego bars – chocolate with whole hazelnuts). I ended up being too full for dessert, even though it was tempting!
They have an English version of the menu available if you request it. Justin and I couldn’t resist ordering the vegan cheese platter (because…well, vegan cheese! Enough said!) consisting of three kinds of cheese, bread, and fig chutney. For my main dish, I asked for the Middle Eastern wrap with seitan (seitan, chickpeas, mint, lemon zest, cream) with a green salad. Justin got a Greek salad with Greek vegan cheese.
Everything was absolutely delicious. I can only make one suggestion to you: if you want to make sure you are able to order what you’d like on the menu, arrive earlier rather than later. I asked for the seitan wrap that was their final one available for the day.
When we asked for more bread to go with our cheese platter, they didn’t have enough bread left to spare. With that said, we highly recommend this restaurant as it was our favorite in all of Strasbourg.
Best Vegan Fast Food in Strasbourg: Vélicious Burger
Vélicious Burger is a fast food restaurant brought to you by the same owners as Vélicious. It’s right in the pedestrian area of Strasbourg and there’s a little patio outdoors. You can choose to dine in or take your burgers to go. We brought ours back to our hotel room to relax and eat dinner. It seemed as though most people were picking up orders for takeaway.
The interior of the restaurant was fun and playful, with swings in the front window. The menu is written in colourful chalk at the front. Just like at Vélicious, there’s a large selection of vegan desserts, mostly in the form of cupcakes. There’s even gluten-free brownies, too.
This quickly became another one of our favorite vegan Strasbourg restaurants as the burgers were delicious. Justin and I both ordered the Queen Cheese burger as a combo with fries. They included vegan mayo and ketchup as dip for the fries, which was really tasty.
The burger itself was super yummy. If you’re looking for fast food that’s satisfying and tastes great, stop by Vélicious Burger. The omnivores in the crowd won’t even be able to taste the difference! Velicious Burger now has two locations in Strasbourg, too.
Vegan Pizza in Strasbourg: Pizz’arome
Who doesn’t love pizza? Justin and I order pizza whenever we get the chance, but have you been to an all vegan pizzeria before? It’s a rarity for sure, but it can be found in wonderful Strasbourg!
When we visited, there were vegetarian slices and vegan slices. But, since we’ve visited, Pizz’arome has gone 100% plant-based! Now, all of the pizza is vegan, so you don’t need to ask which ones are. You buy pizza here by the slice.
Once you place your order, he’ll heat them up for you and you’re good to dine there or take them away with you. Be sure to add this delicious veggie pizzeria to your vegan Strasbourg dining list, even if you’re looking for a mid-afternoon snack!
Vegan Strasbourg Healthy Options: Harmonie Bowl & Juice
Harmonie Bowl & Juice was our clear choice for lunch one day as they serve up fresh and delicious meals. This is a vegan Strasbourg restaurant owned and operated by a husband and wife team. Their dishes are posted on a board in French, but one of the owners will be happy to translate for you.
Justin ordered the Tokyo Bowl (adzuki bean, cucumber, avocado) and I selected the K-Bowl (with tofu, kimchi, and sweet potato). We also ordered an iced tea and a watermelon juice.
The food is artfully prepared and looks as good as it tastes! Dining here was an absolute delight and we’d love to return someday.
Best Vegan Dessert in Strasbourg: Bistrot Et Chocolat
Bistrot et Chocolat is a vegetarian bistro that’s perfect for those with a sweet tooth. While there were many vegan dishes to choose from, we stopped by for coffee and dessert after a bike ride in Strasbourg. I was looking for a little pick me up after riding bikes around the city.
I ordered an iced latte with almond milk. We split a dessert, which was a chocolate molten lava cake with mango sorbet. The cake was warm and gooey. Very yummy! Justin and I enjoyed their little patio outdoors. They also had a small shop with chocolate available for purchase.
Vegan Strasbourg: Végéman
Vegeman is a new vegan fast food restaurant in Strasbourg that I’d love to try the next time I’m there! They specialize in vegan kebabs, nuggets, cheezy sticks, onion rings, fries, and more. There are also salads on the menu to balance out all of the fried food. Plus, you can try some desserts, like cookies and muffins.
Organic Vegan Food: Arundo
Arundo is “the little vegan canteen” that offers a small rotating menu that changes by the week. All of the food here is organic. Examples of dishes include: seitan burger, couscous, sandwiches, gnocchi, tofu bowls, and so much more. Every week, there’s something new to try, so you’ll never grow tired of Arundo!
Copper Branch
Copper Branch is a Canadian chain of vegan restaurants that started in Montreal. I’ve been to their locations in the Toronto area, too. Copper Branch is now international with a vegan restaurant in Strasbourg.
You’ll find loads of delicious plant-based eats that are quick and convenient choices. There’s burgers, sandwiches, nachos, poutine, waffles, and smoothies. Vegan desserts are also available.
Vegetarian Strasbourg: Au Potiron
Au Potiron is a vegetarian restaurant in Strasbourg that has vegan options. The vegan items on the menu are clearly marked, and it seems like most dishes can be made vegan. There are even a couple of vegan desserts on the menu, too! Definitely stop by this cozy cafe if you get the chance.
Vegan Turkish Food: Cigköftem
Cigkoftem is an international vegetarian chain of Turkish food, including Turkish street food. Their establishment in Strasbourg is very vegan-friendly. Order the vegan kofte, which is made out of bulgur, tomato, and spices. All of the food at Cigkoftem is vegan, but some of the drinks and desserts may contain honey or dairy products.
Falafels in Strasbourg: Falafoul
Falafoul is a vegetarian Middle Eastern restaurant in Strasbourg offering falafel, rice, salads, beans, and more. Some of the dishes may contain yogurt, so you will need to inquire about what’s vegan when you’re there.

Where to Stay in Strasbourg
Justin and I stayed at the charming Hotel Cour du Corbeau right in Old Town Strasbourg. This hotel combined old world charm with contemporary elegance. If you’re a fan of half-timbered architecture, you’ll love staying here!
Our luxurious Junior Suite was roomy and bright, combining classic and contemporary styles. The half-timbered framing from the building’s exterior carried right into our room. Exposed wooden beams marked the corridor to the bedroom where we enjoyed a restful night’s sleep.
The location could not get any better than this! Located right on the river, you can walk to every tourist attraction and explore every nook of Old Town Strasbourg. It’s steps away from the Strasbourg Cathedral, Petite France, restaurants, cafes, shops, and everywhere you want to be. Be sure to book your stay at this beautiful hotel for your trip to Strasbourg.

I second the nod for Velicious. Indeed, the vegan cheese platter should be tried. It was this that convinced me to go vegan for longer, having been vegetarian up to few months prior. I also went to Harmonie and again I share the positive experience.

Like you I've always assumed France wouldn't be too accommodating to vegans. I have a trip to Marseille booked next month and for the first time I'm feeling confident that maybe there will be some vegan options there. If not maybe I'll just head to Strasbourg
