It’s no surprise that the adorable town of Perth, Ontario, is home to several cute and cozy coffee shops. Checking out the local cafes and coffee shops is one of my favourite things to do in Perth. After a couple of trips, I’ve compiled a list of the best coffee shops in Perth that I know you’ll love.

Perth is one of the prettiest towns in Ontario, so I highly recommend that you make the road trip to spend the weekend there. These Perth coffee shops often come with a scenic view or a cozy atmosphere, perfect for savouring warm beverages with your friends and loved ones. Even though Perth is a relatively small town, here are several of my favourite places to go for a coffee.

Perth Coffee Shops

Coutts Coffee Roastery & Cafe

Coutts Coffee Roastery & Cafe is one of the best coffee shops in Perth, Ontario. It’s a long standing cafe in Perth since March 2000, located on Gore Street. Like many restaurants and businesses in Perth, Coutts Coffee is situated inside a historic building, dating back to 1841. This one is known as “The Sheriff’s House” because Sheriff Thompson once lived there.

Coutts Coffee roasts their coffee beans in small batches, and all of their coffee is fair trade, organic, and sourced from small farmers. There’s ample indoor seating areas, as well as a covered patio overlooking the Tay River. Their riverside dining area is one of the most scenic places to enjoy a coffee in Perth. Not only is the coffee delicious and carefully sourced, but the atmosphere is fantastic.

Perth Coffee Shops: North Folk Cafe

Perth Coffee Shops: North Folk Cafe

North Folk Cafe is another amazing Perth coffee shop, located right in downtown Perth on the corner of Gore Street and Foster Street. They serve rich and flavourful cups of coffee using locally roasted espresso beans. There’s also delicious tea, their own homemade Artizen Kombucha, handcrafted gelato, and a variety of desserts (including organic, gluten-free, and vegan).

There’s a large outdoor patio on Foster Street during the summer months, as well as cozy indoor seating. I love the natural and airy vibes of this cafe, complete with colour-block painted walls and beautiful art on the walls themselves.

My iced Americano with oat milk was really tasty, and I’d love to stop by next time for a scoop of plant-based gelato or perhaps their avocado toast. There’s complimentary Wi-Fi in case you need to get some work done on your laptop. It’s also a family-friendly cafe, with a small selection of games and toys to occupy your little ones.

Coffee Shops in Perth: Cafe Bean

Coffee Shops in Perth: Cafe Bean

Cafe Bean is such a charming cafe, which you’ll quickly see from the exterior of the coffee shop when you arrive. It’s located inside The Old Perth Shoe Factory, a century old industrial shoe factory building that’s been transformed into an exciting and dynamic mix of commercial and community space.

From the outside, Cafe Beans looks straight out of Brooklyn, New York, and it almost feels that way when you step inside the coffee shop, too. It maintains that old, industrial atmosphere, but elevates it with cozy coffee shop vibes. There’s a little outdoor patio, as well as ample indoor seating.

There are a wide variety of cold caffeinated beverages and hot espresso favourites. Plant-based milks are available. You can also choose from a small lunch menu of premade sandwiches and the soup of the day. Cafe Bean also has quite a few tempting desserts; unfortunately, none of them were vegan, so I couldn’t try them for myself.

Coffee Shops in Perth: FieldHouse

Coffee Shops in Perth: Fieldhouse

FieldHouse is a cute cafe that’s a lovely lunch spot, and it’s also one of the best coffee shops in Perth. They have limited hours (Tuesday to Saturday from 10am-3pm), but make sure that you plan your trip to Perth around visiting.

There’s a little patio out front and limited seating indoors. If you don’t manage to find a seat, Stewart Park is right across the way, so you can enjoy a picnic lunch or coffee at the park. I stopped by for an iced coffee and I’ve also gone for lunch here. The tofu noodle bowl is so yummy! For those of you with a sweet tooth, there are many tantalizing pastries and croissants here (none of them vegan, sadly).

Picnic Cafe & Catering

Picnic Cafe & Catering

Picnic Cafe & Catering prides themselves on serving excellent coffee and fresh food. It’s one of the best places in Perth to go for a coffee, though you should definitely stop by for lunch, too. Picnic uses Reunion Coffee Roasters coffee, which is sustainably sourced and fair trade.

Their tea comes from Pluck. I actually decided to try a tea here instead of a coffee because they had a butterfly pea flower tea that turned a vibrant shade of purple. Picnic also has a wide selection of baked goods (including vegan options), as well as an extensive lunch menu (soups, sandwiches, bowls, salads, with an emphasis on healthy and fresh eats).
