Iceland is "The Land of Fire and Ice". Although it's part of Europe, Iceland has its own language, currency and government. Reykjavik is the capital city, and about two thirds of the population live in Reykjavik.
The main reason why people travel to Iceland is to experience the vast natural beauty of the country. Iceland is home to some of the largest glaciers in the world, as well as the most active volcanoes. There are so many waterfalls, geothermal areas, geysers, fjords, mountains, and black sand beaches.
As for wildlife, you can go whale watching, puffin watching, and you'll likely also spot some Icelandic horses. If you're lucky, you might see Arctic Foxes in the Westfjords, and you're likely to spot sheep everywhere you go.

Highway 1, aka the Ring Road, is the main highway that encircles the country. A road trip of the Ring Road takes about 10 days to do it properly, though we recommend 2 weeks so you can add in the Westfjords and not feel too rushed.
