Is Amarula Vegan?
Amarula Plant Based is a vegan version of Amarula cream liqueur that vegans and those opting to go dairy-free will love. You can enjoy all of the delicious flavours of the original Amarula in a coconut cream based offering.
The original Amarula is not a vegan product, but Amarula Plant Based is totally vegan. It’s perfect for anyone with dietary restrictions or preferences. It’s easy to drink, smooth, and incredibly versatile. There is a difference in taste from the original Amarula as the base of this product is coconut milk, but it has the same great mouth feel.
What Does Amarula Taste Like?
Vegan Amarula combines the exotic tastes of the Marula fruit with gentle hints of vanilla, caramel and coconut. You can drink this cream liqueur beverage over ice or create a mouthwatering cocktail with Amarula. I’ll give you some Amarula vegan cocktail recipes to try below!

What is the Marula Fruit?
The marula fruit grows only in Africa, and Amarula is a cream liqueur from South Africa. It is a small, oval fruit that’s about the size of a plum. As it ripens, marula fruit turns yellow on the outside with a white flesh on the inside. It tastes tangy and citrusy, but also has a creamy and nutty taste as well. Marula contains four times as much vitamin C as an orange.
The marula tree bears this exotic fruit only once a year in the height of summer. When the marula fruit ripens, its scent fills the air and elephants travel from great distances for a taste. The fruits are harvested by hand by the local communities.
Where can I buy Vegan Amarula?
Vegan Amarula just launched in Canada and you will be able to find it all over the world soon enough. It is now available at the LCBO in Ontario. It will be available in western Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba) in the fall of 2022.

How Amarula Helps People and Wildlife
Amarula is based in South Africa and they are inspired by the generosity of the marula tree. They are committed to social enterprises and sustainable partnerships to help people, wildlife, and the environment.
Since Amarula is deeply connected to local communities and elephants, they aim to empower people and entrepreneurs, safeguard the African elephants, and protect the planet. In 2008, the company established the Amarula Trust, where they work with organizations to protect African elephants. Amarula supports Wildlife Direct and HERD, South Africa’s first elephant orphanage.

Bottles of Amarula always come decorated with a beautiful handmade tassel, and Amarula Plant Based is outfitted with a burgundy tassel. The tassels are made by the Handiwork Hub, a collaboration that empowers female entrepreneurs. This initiative successfully helps women and their families to prosper financially, socially, mentally, physically and spiritually. The ladies have created over 40 million tassels for Amarula over the years!
Amarula Canada supports Canadian food banks and organizations like Second Harvest who are dedicated to food rescue. I love how Amarula is not only providing a new vegan product that’s better for animals and the planet, but they are also committed to so many social enterprises, too.
