Here are the best things to do in Turkey Point, Ontario. We spent a lovely fall weekend in Turkey Point, just as the leaves were beginning to change colour. You can use this Turkey Point guide to plan your summer beach holidays or any other time of year.
Turkey Point is most famous for several natural and outdoor attractions in the area. Turkey Point Beach on Lake Erie is a big draw for families and friends alike. There's also many nearby wineries and breweries, Turkey Point Provincial Park, and the local adventure outfitter, Long Point Eco-Adventures.

In this travel blog post about the best things to do in Turkey Point, I'm going to give you all of the details and best advice for an amazing getaway. It's one of the best Ontario beach holidays. Lake Erie is so beautiful and there are plenty of things to do in the area.
Where to Stay in Turkey Point, Ontario

Justin and I spent a long weekend in Turkey Point with a few of our friends, staying at this beautiful lakefront beach house. It's directly across the street from Turkey Point Beach, so it doesn't get much better than that!

This is the perfect place to stay with your friends and family, and it's even well suited for those with small children. This Turkey Point beach house has four bedrooms and one common area with a sofa bed, comfortably sleeping up to nine guests. One of the bedrooms has a bunk bed and even some toys for the kiddos.

This cozy beach bungalow, also known as The White House, is a newly renovated property with loads of amenities for a comfortable stay. Aside from the perfect location, there's a well equipped kitchen, a flatscreen smart TV, and cupboards full of board games.

You can laze the days away reading a book on the front patio or gather with your getaway buddies on the back deck. There is a large patio set, an outdoor barbecue, a campfire, and a fully fenced backyard. And of course, you can walk across the street and be right at the beach. There's ample parking for a few cars on site, too.

Even when we visited in the fall (and it was too cold to go to the beach), we spent our days hiking and visiting wineries, and spent our evenings by the BBQ and playing board games. I'm going to show you all of the things to do in Turkey Point throughout this blog post, and this is the perfect place to call home during your stay. Book your stay at the Turkey Point beach house.
Best Things to Do in Turkey Point: Turkey Point Beach

Turkey Point Beach is a 2km stretch of beach on Lake Erie, right in the village of Turkey Point. You can find a free parking spot off Cedar Drive on the edge of the beach. Arrive early in the summer as there are a limited amount of parking spaces. Of course, if you stay at the property I highlighted above, you can park at the house and walk to the beach.
Turkey Point Beach is a great choice for those with small children as the waters are calm and shallow. It's a great beach for swimming and lounging in the sun. The sand is soft and great for building sandcastles. This is also a public beach so there's no admission costs. Just show and enjoy your day at the beach in Turkey Point.
When we visited Turkey Point in the fall, it obviously wasn't beach weather. However, we went for a walk along the beach and it was very peaceful and beautiful. The leaves were changing colour and we had the beach all to ourselves, aside from a couple of dog walkers and local residents.
Hike or Bike at Turkey Point Provincial Park
Turkey Point Provincial Park is best known as a wilderness destination for hiking, biking and camping. The campsites are open seasonally from May until the end of October. It's an excellent day use park as well. There's a network of mountain biking trails both within and adjacent to the park, as well as several hard surfaced and campground roads to go for a gentle bike ride.
We visited Turkey Point Provincial Park to go for a short fall hike. There are three hiking trails at Turkey Point Provincial Park: the Lookout Bluff Trail (2.2km, easy), Fin & Feather Trail (4km, moderate) and the Oak Savannah Trail (1km, easy).

We embarked on the Lookout Bluff Trail, which starts and ends at the park office, forming a loop through the forest. You'll walk through the forest and eventually will reach a lookout point over Long Point Bay. The lookout point is somewhat obscured by the trees, but this is a lovely little hike nevertheless. Hiking is one of the best things to do in Turkey Point, Ontario, especially when it's a pretty autumn walk.
Things to Do in Turkey Point: Long Point Eco-Adventures

For those craving outdoor adventures, Long Point Eco Adventures is the place to be. Justin and I have experienced the outdoorsy fun at Long Point Eco-Adventures on a couple of occasions now, and I'm sure we'll be back in the future. There are a variety of fun activities, including the zipline and canopy tour, kayaking down Big Creek, observing the night sky, and even glamping in their wilderness suites and pods.

On their zipline and canopy tour, you'll be swinging and zipping from platform to platform, high among the trees of the Carolinian forest. The tour lasts about 2.5 hours and you'll be accompanied by experienced guides. You'll zip to eight different platforms, walk across a suspension bridge, and even embark on a small rappel at the end. It's a thrilling and fun experience.

I would love to experience the Observatory at Long Point Eco-Adventures. I have tried booking it in the past, but unfortunately it's always been too overcast. However, when Justin and I spent the night glamping at Long Point Eco-Adventures, it happened to be a clear night and we captured some photos of the night sky from the property. We also enjoyed their campfire and made s'mores!
Long Point Eco-Adventures has an on-site restaurant that's open seasonally, as well as an on-site brewery that's also open seasonally. Otherwise, you're welcome to check out the offerings in Turkey Point or visit Burning Kiln Winery that's right across the street. The ziplining and adventures here are among the best things to do in Turkey Point for kids and adults alike.
Wineries and Breweries Near Turkey Point
One of the best things to do in Turkey Point is visit the local wineries and breweries. There are a number of wineries and breweries in and around Turkey Point, primarily in the nearby community of St Williams and surrounding farmlands.
Charlotteville Brewing Company

Charlotteville Brewing Company is one of the best breweries that I've visited in a while, both for its atmosphere and the beer itself. This estate brewery is situated inside century-old barns on a family farm. They offer a great selection of fermented libations and organic seasonal fare. There's also a spacious outdoor patio, open during the summer months.
When we visited, they had a few unique and seasonal selections, including a pumpkin ale, a sour cherry and kaffir lime brew, and a stone fruit gose. I tried the Cherry Bomb (sour cherry beer), Life's a Peach (stone fruit gose) and El Hefe (Hefeweisen) for my beer tasting. I probably enjoyed the hefeweisen the most (it is one of my overall favs) but I really enjoyed all three.
There are a number of tables and seating around the bar on the first level, but I suggest going up to the loft if there are some seats available. There's a couple of comfy couches up there, plus the loft is loaded with antiques and knick-knacks. It felt as though I was hanging out in someone's rec room, sampling tasty brews.
Blueberry Hill Estates Winery

Norfolk County is gaining a fantastic reputation as an emerging wine region in Ontario, and Blueberry Hill Estates Winery exemplifies this in their delicious wines. They grow their premium grapes right here in southwestern Ontario and create both grape and fruit wines.

At Front Road Cellars at Blueberry Hill Estates, we sat down in their cute front room for a wine tasting. You can mix and match any of their wine and ciders for a tasting, and there's also the option to pair your wine tasting with cheese or small bites.
I sampled their pear cider, late harvest Riesling, and iced blueberry fruit wine. I was mostly a fan of the cider and the Riesling as the blueberry wine was a little too tart for my liking, but all were really delicious. Everyone at our table had their favourites. Another popular choice was the "what the foch" red wine.
Burning Kiln Winery

We were really looking forward to visiting Burning Kiln Winery as I've wanted to go for many years. Unfortunately for us, it was extremely popular on a Saturday afternoon in October. There weren't many parking spaces left as there was also a wedding taking place at the winery.
We wanted to do an informal small wine tasting at the bar, but it didn't end up happening. We stood at the bar for about 15 minutes and we were not acknowledged or helped. In fact, another group arrived after us and were invited to do a wine tasting ahead of us, while we awkwardly stood by the bar.
If you want to visit this winery on the weekend (even in the fall), I suggest booking a "winery experience tour" through their website. It is a 45 minute guided walking tour that ends with a tasting in their barrel room. If you are interested in popping by for a wine tasting, I suggest going on a weekday or heading down the road to Blueberry Hill Estates Winery, which was less busy (and we received much better service).
Hometown Brewing Company
Unfortunately, Hometown Brew Co was closed for the season when we visited Turkey Point. Hometown Brewing Company is only open during the summer season, so we'll have to come back for this one. I've heard it's awesome, so be sure to stop by and let us know how you enjoyed it. It's located at Long Point Eco-Adventures.

Best Restaurants in Turkey Point
Looking for where to dine in Turkey Point? I suggest checking out Sandbar on the Beach or The Jetty Bar & Grill. As we had our own cottage with kitchen and barbecue, we didn't venture out for too many meals. However, we did have the chance to have lunch at The Jetty Bar & Grill.
Their menu has a vast array of items for every taste. There are a few vegan items on the menu, including a Beyond Burger and some of their bowls. I ordered the "Shanghai Whatever" bowl, which had a variety of veggies, jasmine rice, and garlic ginger turmeric sauce.
