Can you be-leaf it's fall? To ring in the spooky season, it's time to find pumpkins to carve and decorate your home. Why settle for a grocery store pumpkin when you can wander around one of the best pumpkin patches in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area?

Go to a farm and pick your own pumpkin. Or pick up a pumpkin directly from where it's grown, freshly picked on your behalf, if you don't feel like strolling the fields.

Not only are these pumpkins higher quality, but you will often have a choice between your typical orange pumpkin and something a bit fancier. It's also great to support local farmers by buying a pumpkin from them directly.

While most of these Toronto pumpkin patches won't be directly in Toronto itself, these are all located in the Greater Toronto Area. After all, we're heading out into the country to pick pumpkins, getting an escape from the city.

Some of these pumpkin patches have even more activities and family fun. There might be hay rides, apple picking, and other spooky Halloween events.

Albion Orchards

Albion Orchards mainly features apple picking, but they have a large pumpkin patch, too. You can walk out into the field to pick your own pumpkins.

Also, they have a large farm store with their own products where it's possible to buy freshly picked pumpkins and other seasonal products.

Allison's Farm Market

Allison's Farm Market is one of the best pumpkin patches near Toronto, located in my hometown of Georgetown. I love how they offer free admission to wander their pumpkin patch and you only pay for what you pick.

Take photos out in the fields, too! There is also a large display of pumpkins at the front of the shop where it's easy to buy a pumpkin on the spot.

Andrew's Farm Market & Winery

Andrew's Farm Market & Winery (formerly known as Andrew's Scenic Acres) is a u-pick farm, winery and farm store. We've highlighted it in our blog post about the best things to do in Halton Hills.

They have pick-your-own fruits, flowers, apples and pumpkins, depending on what's in season.

There are also hay rides, a corn maze, and weekends with fun festivities including live music and a vendor market. While this farm has many things to do for the whole family, there is an admission fee to access the property and pumpkin patch.

Applewood Farm & Winery

Applewood Farm & Winery is an amazing pumpkin patch in Durham Region. They offer pumpkin picking and a wide array of fun fall activities on the farm.

Visit their pumpkin patch, get lost in the corn maze, and take a wagon ride on weekends. They also offer pumpkin cider on tap and pumpkin moonshine.

On Sundays between 12 and 4, there's live music, too! There is an admission fee that includes a pick-your-own pumpkin or squash and unlimited use of the corn maze.

Brooks Farms

Brooks Farms has been around for over 150 years! It was started back in the mid-1800s by Edward Brooks, and now it's owned by the family's fourth generation farmer.

Their pumpkin patch is open on weekends for pumpkin picking, and pumpkins are for sale daily from their farm shop.

Their Fall Fun Festival operates on weekends throughout September and October, though I don't personally love the amount of animal entertainment that's offered (especially the pig races). I'd love to see that put to an end.

Chudleigh's Farm

Chudleigh's Farm is the ultimate fall destination for fun on the farm. There's apple picking, a pumpkin wall and pumpkin picking, a nature trail, wagon rides, play areas, music nights and so much more.

You do need to buy admission tickets in advance through their website, and weekend dates often sell out ahead of time.

Cooper's CSA Farm

Cooper's CSA Farm offers pumpkin picking from their u-pick patch. This is one of the top pumpkin patches near Toronto if you love getting out into the field to choose that perfect pumpkin.

It's a short walk to the pumpkin patch (~5 minutes). On weekends, you need to buy an admission ticket to their fall festivities, and one pumpkin is included in your ticket.

Downey's Farm Market

Downey's Farm Market is home to their annual Pumpkinfest event, happening from mid-September until the end of October. However, if you're only looking for a pumpkin, you can purchase one from their farm market without having to buy an admission ticket.

For Pumpkinfest, you will need to buy an advance ticket online as they are not sold on-site. This includes tons of activities for children, like live entertainment, wagon rides and more.

Dyment's Glen Drummond Farm

Since I grew up in the town of Dundas, I'm very familiar with Dyment's Farm. I went there on many class trips as a child.

This family farm was started back in 1887 and they host the annual Dyment Pumpkin Patch Festival every weekend in October. Purchase tickets on arrival (cash only).

Take a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkin. There are many other activities included with admission, like a 9-hole mini putt, photo ops and more. If you're only looking to buy a pumpkin, you can do so daily at their market shop without a ticket.

Fallbrook Farms

Fallbrook Farms is a fabulous pumpkin patch near Toronto, located in our current hometown of Georgetown. This is a great place to pick your own pumpkin (or pick your own apples).

There is a small admission fee to enter, which includes a wagon ride and the corn maze. Pumpkins are priced by weight. You can't make any reservations in advance, simply show up when you're looking to visit.

Forsyth Family Farms

Forsyth Family Farms features a wide assortment of pumpkins in their farm market. They also have a u-pick pumpkin patch available throughout September and October.

Forsyth Family Farms' Harvest Festival takes place each weekend throughout the month of October. Please note that picking and purchasing a pumpkin is not included with admission to the Harvest Festival.

Hutchinson Farm

I must say that Hutchinson Farm has one of the best selections of pumpkins when compared to other pumpkin patches in Toronto and the GTA.

Located on the outskirts of Burlington, Hutchinson Farm has a wide variety of pumpkins on display at their market.

They also offer pumpkin picking. There's no admission fee or reservations required. Simply stop by and choose your dream pumpkin from many different varieties and sizes.

Knox's Pumpkin Farm

Knox's Pumpkin Farm is located just east of Oshawa, and this farm is devoted to pumpkins. This is another farm where an advance ticket is required to enter.

There are a couple of options for tickets that include a pick-your-own pumpkin and wagon ride and ones that don't. There are also homemade goods available at their farm store.

Murphy's Farm Market and Bakery

Murphy's Farm Market & Bakery hosts their annual Fall Fest where there are pumpkins galore! This is a favourite pumpkin patch in Ontario for sure.

Fall Fest takes place from Wednesday to Sunday and there is an admission cost, though it is less than many of the others listed in this blog post. It includes access to the pumpkin patch, wagon rides, the corn maze, straw jump and more.

Parkinson's U Pick Pumpkin Patch and Market

Parkinson's U Pick Pumpkin Patch and Market doesn't have much of a web presence and no social media at all. However, this is one of the top pumpkin patches near Toronto. Located outside of Guelph, there's no admission fee to pay to enter Parkinson's U Pick Pumpkin Patch.

Head out into the field and pick your own pumpkin. Each pumpkin is $5, no matter the size. While this farm is a bit simpler than some of the others on this list, sometimes simple is best - especially if you're only looking to buy a pumpkin.

Pingle's Farm Market

Here's another great Durham region pumpkin farm, Pingle's Farm Market. A ticket to their Harvest Festival includes access to pick-your-own pumpkins, wagon rides, the corn maze and playland.

On weekends, there's an additional food/drink area and live music. There is also a farm market with a big assortment of farm fresh goodies.

Reesor's Farm Market

Ressor's Farm Market is located in Markham, not far from the city. They have a pick your own pumpkin patch and corn maze every autumn.

On weekdays, there is a reduced admission rate, and advance reservations are required on Saturdays and Thanksgiving Monday. Go for a stroll through the pumpkin patch to find that hidden gem of a pumpkin, perfect for carving or decorating your home.

Springridge Farm

Springridge Farm is an excellent place to purchase pumpkins. There are rows of pumpkins upon entering the farm and their market shop. It's possible to buy pumpkins from their market without needing to pay admission to the farm.

However, admission to the farm includes a trip to the pumpkin patch, wagon rides, scenic views and more. It is cheaper to visit on weekdays, though their corn maze is only open on weekends.

Strom's Farm and Bakery

Strom's Farm and Bakery has thousands of pumpkins awaiting you. There's no charge to visit the pumpkins, the farm market barn and bakery. Their Harvest Fun event is ticketed and includes many fall-themed activities.

There are pumpkins, photo opps, a coffee bar, a low ropes course, "pumpkin chuckin" and more. Ticket reservations are required on the weekend, and walk-ins are welcomed on weekdays.

Sweet Ridge Farm

This is one of the only pumpkin patches in Toronto in this article that's within the city limits. On the outskirts of Toronto, Sweet Ridge Farm has pick-your-own pumpkins out in their field.

You can also pick corn and squash. There's a small admission fee with reasonable prices for the pumpkins themselves. Take plenty of photos while you're here.
