Finding the best luggage storage is a common dilemma. Let's say that you're flying into a country super early, long before you can check in at your accommodation. Or perhaps you have a late flight and you're not sure where to store luggage in those hours between checking out of your hotel and heading to the airport.
If you're staying at a hotel, you can often leave your bags with the staff at the front desk. But, what if you're staying at an Airbnb or lodging that doesn't have any staff members on site? You'll need to find the best luggage storage solution so you don't end up lugging your bags all over town with you.
Enter LuggageHero. They've reinventing the short term luggage storage industry by allowing you to leave your bags at one of many locations nearest you.
You won't have to go searching for bag storage inside train stations or airports any longer. LuggageHero has hundreds of partner locations around the globe, so there's most certainly luggage storage near you.
How Does Luggage Storage Work?
Let's say that I'm visiting Glasgow and my flight is really early in the morning. I arrive in the city by 9 or 10 in the morning, and my Airbnb check-in time isn't until 3:00 pm. What do I do with my bags?
Well, I could use a luggage locker at the airport, but this would mean returning to the airport before heading to my Airbnb a few hours later, which is a total waste of time and money. I could find a bus station or a train station that has luggage storage, but it might not be anywhere near my accommodation. I start my trip off with annoyed with a total headache over the whole matter.

With LuggageHero, there are luggage storage locations all over the world, including Glasgow. Enter the location of your accommodation into the search bar and you'll find numerous luggage storage spots with their distance listed from your hotel.
Their website is mobile-friendly, so there's no need to download any additional apps (there is an app for iPhone and Android, if you prefer). Choose a location and you'll receive instant instructions on how to get there.
These locations are local partner businesses that have extra space for bag storage, such as stores, spas, luggage lockers, restaurants, coffee shops, hotels, gift shops, and more. These are certified shops and hotels, so you can be sure that your bags are safe and secure. Furthermore, all luggage is insured against damage, loss and theft.
Once you book your luggage storage, there's free cancellation if you change your mind (until midnight before your drop-off date). Also, you don't need to book your reservation far in advance. You can do it moments before you arrive, too.
Other Practical Uses for Luggage Storage
You don't have to use LuggageHero only while you're traveling. Let's say that you're spending a day working at various coffee shops in Toronto, as I commonly do. I'll have a large backpack with my laptop, its charger, and perhaps a notebook. Then, I might have an event later that evening in the city or I'll meet some friends for dinner.
I usually end up lugging around my large backpack wherever I go, which can be annoying in social situations (especially if you're attending a networking event or a more formal situation). Why not store my backpack at a LuggageHero location for a few hours and pick it up when I'm finished? That way, I won't have to go home to drop things off or carry them everywhere.
You might also have an event to attend where you can't bring bulky bags or backpacks inside with you. This is another situation where LuggageHero is super handy and practical. Drop your bags off near your event at a secure location for a few hours and pick them up when you're done.
How Much Does LuggageHero Cost?
LuggageHero is an inexpensive way to store your luggage. There are three different pricing rates. There's an hourly rate, a daily rate, and a multiday rate. Once you drop off your bags, you'll click "start storage timer" on your smartphone or through the link provided via email or SMS text. Upon pickup, click "stop storage timer" and you'll pay for your luggage storage.
The places that offer luggage storage will not receive any cash directly from you. All payments are processed by credit card on the LuggageHero website. You won't need to worry about having the correct local currency. This is super convenient if you're looking to store your bags for a few hours on a stopover and you're only spending a short period of time in a country.
What About Insurance at LuggageHero?
In collaboration with one of the world's largest insurance companies, every piece of luggage is insured free of charge when you drop it off at the LuggageHero partner location. This is a guaranteed insurance of $500 per item.
If you'd like to pay extra for premium insurance, it will cover your bags for up to $3,000/€2500 while being stored. Be sure to upgrade your insurance through the LuggageHero website and not in person at the storage site.

This is so cool, I hope they expand to Europe as well. In my experience, most Airbnbs will let you keep your luggage there until you need to head to the airport, and they'll let you check in early as well. But there's never a guarantee so an option like this would be really great to have.
