While we’re pretty local to Toronto and the GTA (we live less than an hour from the city), we love staying in downtown Toronto for a fun city getaway. Whether you’re planning a trip to Toronto or thinking about a staycation, spending the night at a hotel with a convenient location is key. We loved staying at the Delta Hotels Toronto in the heart of the city.
Justin and I had the opportunity to spend the night at the Delta Toronto when it originally opened. We enjoyed a really memorable New Year’s Eve in Toronto and made the Delta Hotels Toronto our temporary home as we celebrated the new year.

Since we last stayed at the hotel, their restaurant has had a major renovation and menu overhaul. Justin and I had the chance to see the reopened SOCO Kitchen + Bar and try their new food and drink. We’ll showcase exactly what we ate and drank as part of this hotel review, too.

Delta Hotels Toronto: About the Property
When we stayed at the Delta Toronto, it was only a month old. Even though the hotel has been open for a while now, it continues to dazzle its guests.
Its design and decor emphasizes a modern and elegant feel. The structure itself is inspired by a glass of sparkling wine: it’s a tall building with twinkling glass elements that rise to the very top.

There are 567 guest rooms across 40 stories offering incredible views of the Toronto skyline and Lake Ontario. We stayed in a room on the 30th floor with a city view. Since we stayed her on New Year’s Eve, we had an extra special view of the fireworks at midnight from our room.
Throughout the hotel, there are many stunning works of art and gigantic murals that stretch from floor to ceiling. There’s imagery showcasing the CN Tower and other iconic buildings around the Delta Hotels Toronto. Other art evokes typical Canadian imagery, celebrating our geography, landscapes and favorite sport, hockey.
Our Room at the Delta Toronto

Justin and I stayed in room 3003 on the 30th floor, not far from the elevator. There are two sets of elevators in the hotel. One serves floors 26 and under and the other serves floors 27 and up. This smart feature allows guests to travel to their rooms quicker without having to stop at many unnecessary floors on the way.
As a special measure on New Year’s Eve, we had to sign a form upon arrival stating that we wouldn’t be noisy past 11:00pm. I love that the staff went above and beyond to ensure that everyone would have a restful night’s sleep on a night that can be rowdier than most. And it worked – we didn’t hear any noise at night and enjoyed a great night’s rest.
We spent the night in a King room with a city view. The windows extend from the floor to the ceiling, maximizing the natural light that fills the room (and the views!). The curtains completely block out all the light at night.

There are many modern conveniences here, too. There are outlets on both sides of the bed to charge our devices. The SmartDesk is a large work area with one of the best connectivity docks I’ve ever seen at a hotel. Any computers or mobile devices can be connected to the TV.
The bathroom is clean and spacious, and I love that there’s an extra mirror for getting ready and putting on makeup. The complimentary bath products smelled amazing and we had plenty of space to store our own toiletries.
There’s a large, enclosed glass shower. The sliding door between the bathroom and living space is convenient and ultra quiet, so you won’t disturb your partner if you use the bathroom at night or you’re an earlier riser.
Location

The location doesn’t get any better than this. The Delta Toronto is close to public transit, shopping, and local area attractions. We walked directly from the hotel’s second floor to the PATH system, a 29-kilometre network of pedestrian tunnels that connect underground to shopping and public transit.
The PATH network is attached to Toronto’s Union Station, the subway and all modes of public transportation. We didn’t even have to go outside in the chilly winter weather from the hotel. Traveling around the city from this hotel is a breeze.
Hotel Amenities
Delta Hotels Toronto has an indoor swimming pool, hot tub and 24-hour fitness center. The enclosed pool is on an upper floor of the hotel and offers amazing panoramic views of the city. There’s also self-service parking and valet parking at the hotel for an additional charge.
The staff members at the front desk and concierge are so helpful and polite. If there’s anything you need throughout your stay, don’t hesitate to ask. I should also mention that there’s complimentary Wi-Fi and this is also a pet-friendly hotel in Toronto, too.
SOCO Kitchen + Bar

It’s so funny that we stayed at the Delta Hotels Toronto when it first opened, and we dined at SOCO Kitchen + Bar for the first time after its grand reopening! Justin and I enjoyed a few cocktails and selections from the dinner menu.
Chef Vidish, Executive Chef of Delta Hotels Toronto, has created a menu that highlights Canada’s diverse culinary landscape. Committed to sustainability through careful selection of ingredients, I was delighted to see a number of plant-based offerings that are clearly marked on the menu.
The House Kale Salad was one of the best I’d ever had, especially since it includes unique components like spicy pecans, handmade granola and maple mustard dressing. The SOCO Fries are a really yummy sharable option with herbs and roasted red peppers.

While I am used to seeing a cauliflower steak as a veggie option, I loved seeing a broccoli steak instead this time. It sits on a bean cassoulet and comes topped with chimichurri, pickled shallots and crispy leeks. The broccoli was perfectly prepared and even a little bit blackened for extra flavour.
The cocktails are all equally delicious, though our favourites are the Scarborough Blush and the Five Points Forge. You really can’t go wrong with any of them. Oh, and there’s also a vegan chocolate cake on the menu, and it was so yummy!
Delta Toronto and SOCO Kitchen + Bar are steps from many popular attractions in Toronto, like Scotiabank Arena, Rogers Centre and the CN Tower. It’s an excellent place to stay. Even if you aren’t spending the night at the hotel, be sure to pop by SOCO Kitchen + Bar for dinner and drinks. We thoroughly enjoyed it!

What a fantastic night shot - great views. This is definitely the type of hotel we seek out when visiting a city; I love the modern touches and the luxury design. So much thought has clearly gone into getting each element just right in this particular hotel - even down to the space specifically cut out for the bin in the bathroom. I will be remembering this hotel for future visits. :)
