Once upon a time, I even lived in Brantford for a short while. While there weren't that many vegetarian or vegan options back then, the city's plant-based food scene has come a long way.
While there aren't any 100% vegan restaurants in Brantford, there are plenty of vegan-friendly spots with quite a few tasty dishes. I'll show you exactly where to find them. Let's go on a vegan foodie journey of Brantford!

Best Vegan Restaurants in Brantford: Healthy Rabbit

The Healthy Rabbit specializes in wholesome, plant-based meals crafted from high-quality ingredients, sourcing locally whenever possible. Everything from the dressings to the desserts is made from scratch, and it's also a fantastic spot for gluten-free dining.
While the menu is 96% vegetarian and vegan, there are a few animal-based options. So, it's not an entirely vegan restaurant as some meat is served. However, most options can be made completely without any animal products.

Several menu items are marked as vegan. Something else catch your eye? Ask at the front counter and the staff members can likely make it vegan for you.
At the Healthy Rabbit, we've ordered vegan nachos, a bean burrito, a Hulk Bowl and a Mexican Bowl in the past. We also recommend trying their fresh fruit smoothies.
There is a front patio and a side patio that's a bit more secluded. If it's a nice day, I suggest taking your meals outside to enjoy them in the sunshine. This is one of our favourite casual lunch spots in Brantford that has delightful vegan offerings.
Yelp Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Was very impressed on my first visit to the Healthy Rabbit. I had the Curry bowl special which was very good - wonderful curry sauce over chickpeas, rice, sweet potato cubes, greens and cucumber.
Also had the bean burrito which was one of the best I have had. Many Vegan options which is great. Will go back next time in Brantford.
Hudson Public

Right in the heart of downtown Brantford beside Harmony Square, Hudson Public is a lively restaurant with indoor dining and an outdoor patio. It's the perfect spot to grab a bite before a show at the nearby Sanderson Centre or during a downtown event.
This laid-back eatery serves up irresistible comfort food, and I love that they offer plant-based chicken that can be swapped into so many dishes. You'll need to check some of the sauces as they're likely not vegan, but I'm sure they can make substitutions for you.
I went for the Spadina Street Sesame Chicken and subbed in the plant-based tenders. The citrus-chili Thai sauce was bursting with flavour, and I'd order it again in a heartbeat.
You can also try an Impossible Burger (double check if the bun is vegan though) or the grilled veggie wrap (remove the goat cheese). The menu states that anything marked with a V can be made vegan with minimal modifications.
Sociable Kitchen

The Sociable Kitchen and Tavern is our go-to spot in Brantford for vegan eats. It's beloved locally and has a large indoor and outdoor dining area. The patio is quite popular in the summer months.
They have a fully dedicated plant-based menu packed full of comfort food classics. There's everything from vegan Pad Thai to faux fish tacos and more. We love their plant-based chicken burgers most of all, especially the hot chick'n sandwich and the Mongolian fried chick'n sandwich.

Pair your burgers with a vegan Caesar salad (yum!). For appetizers, we love the plant-based nachos or the vegan truffle Parmesan fries.
I also love how every plant-based item comes with a little stick that says "vegan" on it. It sticks out of the food so you can be certain that you're not receiving a dish with animal products in it.
Brunch at Sociable Kitchen
Be sure to return for weekend brunch at Sociable Kitchen. The brunch menu is served every Saturday and Sunday alongside the regular menu.

We've tried the rancheros brunch bowl (a fan favourite!), avocado toast and the fresh fruit bowl. They also have "fakon and veggs", a fried chick'n breakfast sandwich, and the "garden venedict".
It can be challenging to find good vegan breakfast options in general. Sociable Kitchen has such an excellent vegan brunch menu that's worth traveling for!
Dairee Delite

A trip to Brantford wouldn't be complete without a stop at Dairee Delite, a true local legend. Serving Brantford since 1953, this retro ice cream stand on King George Road has a quirky backstory. It was famously won in a poker game decades ago.
While most of the menu isn't vegan, Dairee Delite makes sure plant-based visitors aren't left out. They offer one vegan soft serve flavour each week and the options rotate regularly. For instance, there's usually a vegan vanilla soft serve or flavoured Dole Whip available.
In addition, all of the vegan-friendly toppings for sundaes and flurries are listed on their website. When I've visited in two past instances, they had the vegan vanilla soft serve. This meant that I could easily ask them to create a flurry with Oreos or golden Oreos. I highly recommend it!
Their sundae toppings include chocolate sauce, peanut butter sauce, fruits, peanuts, Oreo and all slush syrups. They also have a vegan-friendly cone dip (chocolate). Dairee Delite recommends serving it in a cup as the vegan soft serve is a little bit too soft to be dipped in a cone.
Vegan Catering: Lettuce Live

Lettuce Live was once a quick service vegetarian food truck and catering company serving the local neighbourhood during the pandemic. Back in 2021, we enjoyed some delicious vegan offerings from Lettuce Live in the park.
I believe at some point they added meat to the menu, and then shut down for a period of time following the birth of the owner's child.
Recently, Lettuce Live is back purely as a catering company, specializing in grazing boards, sandwiches, skewers, sliders and salads.
While their menu contains animal products, they offer a fair amount of vegan options and consider themselves to be a "plant forward" establishment. If you're seeking a vegan-friendly catering business, be sure to check them out.
Tip from Lauren
If there's only one vegan-friendly restaurant that you visit in Brantford, my top pick is Sociable Kitchen. There's an entire separate plant-based menu and even a plant-based brunch menu on weekends.

While we're still waiting for Brantford to have its own entirely vegan restaurant, we're really happy with the options that are available to us. If you're looking for vegan food in Brantford, be sure to check out the above restaurants - you won't be disappointed!
