- Buy gift cards for friends and family members to encourage them to shop local
Our Town, Our Story: Celebrating Small Business Week

This Small Business Week, we're visiting each local business to experience first hand what makes them special.
We met the passionate entrepreneurs behind these businesses and discovered how they contribute to the character, vibrancy, and strong sense of community that makes Halton Hills unique.
We'll show you how to Move Local, Explore Local, Taste Local and Sip Local. This is Our Town, Our Story.
We shined the spotlight on four local small businesses from Acton, Georgetown, and the rural countryside of Halton Hills. Here's more information on Farm Girl Fitness, Fallbrook Farms, Whimsy Street Treats and Black Creek Coffee.
Farm Girl Fitness

Farm Girl Fitness is not your typical gym experience. It's all about the joy of movement, connecting with nature and creating community. There are no scales, no mirrors and it's all about fun and fresh air on the farm!
Owned and founded by Jessie Thomas, Farm Girl Fitness offers small group training, both indoors and outdoors. There are a variety of strength classes, boxing, and even outdoor bootcamp style classes using props like tires and hay bales. There's also personal training and wellness classes, too.
Farm Girl Fitness started during the pandemic when most gyms were shut down. Jessie started a fitness centre on her family's farm so people could safely train outdoors in nature. Then, a barn was converted into a fitness studio and the community continued to grow.
The fitness classes are geared towards beginners and up. It's a great way to stay motivated with your workouts in an extremely encouraging environment. I tried one of the strength classes and received excellent instruction and felt completely welcomed by everyone!
Fallbrook Farms

Fallbrook Farms is a fun farm experience for the whole family! While there is an apple orchard with a pick your own activity, Fallbrook Farms offers so much more than your typical orchard.
Owned and operated by Jorge and Sandra Urbano, they invite visitors to breathe the fresh air and reconnect with nature.
There are many unique play places for kids, spots for cute photo opportunities, a corn maze, a sunflower field, a tractor graveyard, and a lookout point on an antique firetruck with amazing scenic views.
While it's a great place to pick apples or bring home some pumpkins, Fallbrook Farms is so much more than that. Your family could easily spend the whole afternoon here, making new memories together.
Whimsy Street Treats

Whimsy Street Treats is an ice cream and sweet treats shop in downtown Georgetown. They have all kinds of yummy treats: scooped ice cream, soft serve, sundaes, donuts and ice cream cakes.
Owned by Sabrina and Mike Macchione, Whimsy Street Treats is known for their unique menu of frozen concoctions, including featured sundaes that change every month.
There's also an expansive menu of dairy-free / vegan options, including rotating flavours of soft serve and delectable sundaes.
Black Creek Coffee

Black Creek Coffee started after owners Rob and Aly Smith took a trip to Costa Rica. They sampled the amazing coffee there and couldn't find anything similar back at home in Halton Hills. So, they decided to try roasting their own coffee and Black Creek Coffee was born!
Black Creek Coffee is proudly roasted in Acton and served up in their cafe at the Georgetown Market Place, as well as several other restaurants around town. Try a pour over coffee (it's so good, you don't need to add any sugar or dairy products) or one of their seasonal lattes.
They also feel that it's important to give back. Rob and Aly adopted their dog, Bentley, from a dog rescue and wanted to use their business to help other dogs. Black Creek Coffee donates a percentage of their profits to support dog rescue charities.
