Travel Themed Gifts for Travel Lovers
I’ve split up this Valentine’s Day travel gift guide into three sections: save, spend, and splurge. The “save” items are perfect if you don’t want to break the bank. Perhaps you’ve only started dating not too long ago, and you want to buy a little special memento for your boyfriend or girlfriend who dreams of travel.
The “spend” items are if you’re looking for a slightly more expensive present; maybe it’s something that celebrates your partnership or something travel-related on your Valentine’s wish list.
And lastly, the “splurge” items are a little more flashy, but they’re the next best thing besides buying an expensive plane ticket or vacation away.
Valentine’s Day Travel Gift Guide: Save
There are so many reasons why you might choose to ‘save’ this Valentine’s Day. Perhaps you’ve only been dating for a short while and don’t want to buy anything too extravagant. Maybe you’re in a long term relationship and saving for a big trip together, so you don’t want to buy anything unnecessary. Whatever your reason, you can still display a romantic gesture without breaking the bank. Here are our suggestions for being incredibly thoughtful while saving money on Valentine’s Day.
Couples Travel Journal
Couples who adventure together, stay together! You can write down all of your journeys in this customized travel journal, featuring your names right on the front cover. It’s a custom wooden hardcover journal to bring along with you on your worldwide adventures.
Matching Luggage Tags and Passport Cover
With all of the adventures you’re taking together, why not splurge on some fancy new luggage tags and passport covers? Here’s a set of matching luggage tags and passport covers in a travel theme. They’re made with vegan leather, too!
Travel Themed Candles
Ever thought you could bottle the scent of wanderlust? Well, as it turns out, it smells a bit like white tea and ginger (who knew!). Perhaps you’d rather gift a desert bloom candle. These candles and scents serve to remind you of the places you’ve been or inspire you to travel for new adventures.
Yummy Vegan Candies
Okay, so these might not be travel related exactly, but who couldn’t use a little more sugar in their lives? You could always stash these in your carry on bag for a little sweet snack on your flight. Sugarfina has a selection of vegan candies, including these Valentines-ish sugar lips, which are absolutely delish!
There are lots of candies and gummies that don’t contain any animal products, like these candy kittens and these Delish Fish. The VEGO chocolate bars also happen to be my favorite chocolate of all time.
Aeropress Coffee Maker
I’ll let you in on a little secret (okay, it’s not that much of a secret): the key to my heart is coffee. I love coffee so much. From one coffee lover to another, you need to own an Aeropress portable coffee maker if you want to have fabulous coffee wherever you go in the world.
With an Aeropress, you can easily make rich cups of coffee on the go, whether you’re on a plane, at the airport, camping, or anywhere in the world (basically anywhere you can find hot water). Read more of my tips for brewing coffee on the road.
Valentine’s Day Travel Gift Guide: Spend
In this section of our Valentine’s Day travel gift guide, we’ll show you lots of ways to say, ‘I love you’ that relate to exploring the world. Many of these items you can use at home or on the go. You’ll be reminded of your fun adventures of a lifetime together with these thoughtful gifts.
Pin Adventure Maps
Want to track your adventures with your partner? Justin and I are obsessed with our canvas push pin travel map. It’s a fun and easy way to track your travels and display them proudly on your wall for everyone to see.
You can also find lots of fun travel scratch maps and even scratch map notebooks to track your travels. Whether you hang your scratch map on your wall or carry the notebook version in your bag, it’s a conversation piece and a great way to remember your experiences.
Fuji Instant Camera
Justin bought me a Fuji Instax Camera last Christmas, and I bring it every time we travel. It would make an awesome Valentine’s Day gift because you can take so many photos together as you see the world. We’ve started a tradition of taking selfies in every new city or destination we visit as a souvenir. Pretty cool, right? These are essentially little Polaroid pictures that instantly print from the camera.
Adventuring Together Print
This customized travel-inspired print is so adorable and romantic that I couldn’t resist adding it to this Valentine’s Day travel gift guide. Made for couples, the print features your names and the maps of four cities that you’ve visited together artfully designed with their corresponding city maps. These make a fantastic Valentine’s Day gift or even a wedding gift.
Valentine’s Day Travel Gift Guide: Splurge
Here’s the really fun section of this Valentine’s day travel gift guide! If you have a little extra cash in your pocket or you want to buy something special for your loved one, here are my suggestions for the ultimate Valentine’s Day gifts (unless it’s a plane ticket or a vacation itself as those are probably the most amazing gifts of all).
I’ve always been a massive fan of Fitbit and have owned a couple of different models over the years. It’s so much fun to track your steps, especially when you’re walking all over cities around the world. Justin recently got a Fitbit and now it’s even more fun! We battle each other in step challenges and compare our stats. If you don’t already have a Fitbit, what are you waiting for? These make the perfect gifts, and it’s even more fun when you have someone to share in the excitement.
Give the gift of sleep! I recently had the opportunity to my brand new SleepPhones a test drive (or rather, a test flight?). Flying from Toronto to Los Angeles, Los Angeles to Auckland, and Auckland to Queenstown isn’t ideal. However, a girl needs to get to New Zealand because…well…it’s New Zealand! I’m sure you understand. Enter SleepPhones.
I adore my noise cancelling headphones to block out every sound or noise on a flight. But, it’s hard to sleep with a massive pair of headphones attached to my head. It’s really hard to get comfortable, and they even hurt my ears after a while. SleepPhones are the first headphones designed for comfort. The headphones are inside a cozy fleece headband, making them the perfect headphones for sleeping and resting.
SleepPhones work perfectly with Bluetooth, so I played music and soothing sounds from my phone throughout the flight. From my personal experiences, I am never able to sleep on a flight. While wearing SleepPhones, I was actually able to sleep for the first time ever on a flight. I am totally amazed and completely sold on these. I arrived in New Zealand after sleeping for a glorious eight hours on my flight, barely feeling the effects of jet lag. It was absolutely incredible. This tops my list of gifts for frequent flyers because I finally feel like I can sleep on an airplane now. Check out more gifts for frequent flyers here.
Travel Themed Rings
Here’s a stunning Valentine’s Day gift for her: a travel themed ring featuring a city of your choice. If one of her favorite cities in the world is Rome, London, Paris, or even Toronto (hey, gotta represent!), why not buy a platinum, gold, or silver ring featuring that city? These rings are beautifully crafted and show so many intricate details.
Wine Tour Staycation
What’s Valentine’s Day without a bottle of wine to celebrate? Wine tours are a super romantic outing that you can do with your other half, even as a staycation. If you live in a wine region like Niagara, spend a day together on a wine tour that also includes lunch or dinner.
Do you also like distilleries and cideries? Choose the “Compromise Tour” in Niagara that goes to wineries and cideries. Some of mine and Justin’s most memorable gifts to each other are the gift of travel and tours, so I really love the idea of visiting wineries hand in hand.
If you aren’t from the Niagara or Toronto area, browse all available tours to find a suitable one in your region. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be a wine or beer tour: find something that you and your partner love to do together.
Gondola Tour in Venice
This one is quite possibly the most romantic of everything included in this Valentine’s Day travel gift guide. What could be more romantic than a gondola ride in Venice? If you happen to be traveling to Venice, surprise your partner with a gondola ride. Be serenaded by musicians as you glide along the canals. It doesn’t get any better than that. Read all about our romantic gondola ride in Venice.
The Gift of Travel
This one is a biggie, but planning a vacation with your partner is one of the best things that you can do! Many of our best memories together are from our travels. Browse sustainable and eco-friendly tour websites to find great deals on travel. Perhaps you’re traveling to a city in the near future and you could surprise your other half with a booklet of attractions passes.
Hope you find the perfect gift for that special someone from this Valentine’s Day travel gift guide. No matter what you do, make sure you spend some time together as that’s most important.
