Halton Hills is a hidden gem of Ontario and we’re happy to call this town our home. We’re always uncovering new fun and exciting things to do in Halton Hills, whether we’re visiting one or several of its communities: Georgetown, Glen Williams, Acton or other rural settlements.

Forest Bathing with Farm Girl Fitness
Have you heard of forest bathing? Forest bathing originated in Japan where it’s called shinrin yoku. Forest therapy is even prescribed by Japanese doctors to their patients as a relaxing break from chaotic urban living.
Forest bathing is all about immersing yourself in nature. Be calm and quiet as you slowly explore the forest. Be still beneath the trees. Pay attention to the senses: listen to the wind in the trees, watch the leaves gently float to the ground on a fall day, feel the tree bark and the crunch of the leaves, breathe in and breathe out.

Farm Girl Fitness hosts guided forest bathing classes that are the perfect start to a Halton Hills wellness day. The owner, Jessie, led a small group of us into the forest on her property in the countryside. Justin and I wandered into the forest, admiring the beautiful scenery and tall trees.
We walked to a small clearing with a roaring campfire in the middle. Our group gathered around the fire, laying down our yoga mats. Jessie guided us through some light stretching exercises and meditation. Eventually, I wrapped myself in a blanket and got cozy, laying down on my mat.

Closing my eyes in the forest heightened my senses. I could feel the crispy leaves on the ground and hear the crackling fire. It was so relaxing that I could have easily fallen asleep (or perhaps I did for a little while?). Himalayan Healing Salt Cave & Spa

Next up for our wellness day in Halton Hills, we headed to Georgetown for a salt cave experience at Himalayan Healing Salt Cave & Spa. They offer a variety of spa treatments that would contribute to any amazing self-care day, such as massage therapy, facials, body treatments, and manicures/pedicures. There’s also a unique salt and eucalyptus sauna room for an invigorating and detoxifying experience.
Justin and I spent some relaxing moments lounging in their Salt Cave. Their custom built Salt Cave is covered from floor to ceiling in pure Himalayan Pink Salt. While blocks of pink salt completely cover the walls and ceiling, you can also walk barefoot through the Himalayan Pink Salt.

Salt healing, also known as halotherapy, helps treat respiratory conditions like asthma, allergies and common colds. The Salt Cave is a controlled holistic environment that mimics the microclimate of a natural salt cave. Himalayan salt contains up to 84 natural elements and minerals that are absorbed by our bodies and perform a variety of important roles.
In addition, we enjoyed a guided sound bathing journey and meditation in the Salt Cave by Emily. Justin and I relaxed and closed our eyes throughout the sound bathing session. It enhanced the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the Salt Cave. The combination of the Salt Cave and the sound bathing session reduces stress, enhances relaxation and can improve mood and energy levels.

After experiencing the Salt Cave, the two of us spent some time in the salt and eucalyptus sauna, another relaxing environment. If you decide to add in a massage (you can have a massage in a salt room, too!) or other spa treatments, you could truly enjoy an entire spa day here. Blends and Bites
After the forest bathing and salt healing, you might have worked up a bit of an appetite. Let’s go to a healthy establishment in Georgetown, Blends and Bites. Blends and Bites creates fresh fruit smoothies, cold pressed juices, and wholesome and organic light meals.

Upon entering Blends and Bites, I immediately noticed their cute wooden swing and display, perfectly Instagrammable. We were greeted by the staff and they shared their recommendations. Even Jessie from Farm Girl Fitness told us that their green smoothies were delicious, so we had to try them for ourselves. It’s hard to believe that something so tasty can be so healthy!
Blends and Bites offers nutritious fare for lunch and we love that there are vegetarian and vegan options so prominently featured. Justin and I both ordered the tofu bowl which comes served over turmeric rice and includes a little kale salad and jalapeno chips on the side. On a self-care and wellness day, it’s important to properly nourish your body, too. Blends and Bites is a must visit spot in Georgetown. Check them out on Instagram, too.
Divino

Divino is right next door to Blends and Bites, so it’s a convenient (and delicious) way to end a Halton Hills wellness trip. Divino offers 18 different flavours of gelato, including vegan varieties like lemon, mango, tropical, strawberry, and raspberry lychee rose. The business is called “Divino” because the gelato “tastes like heaven, it is so divine”.

The owners are always coming up with new recipes and new flavours that are entirely unique. We tried some scoops of mango and strawberry gelato and they were totally comparable to ones we’d enjoyed in Italy. You can find Divino on Instagram as well.
The best way to end a self-care day is with a sweet treat, wouldn’t you agree? Despite living here for a few years now, we’re always uncovering new local treasures to visit and these places were all new to us!
