Visiting Queenstown is an absolute must on any New Zealand itinerary. It has charming small town vibes, it's super walkable, and the views are nothing short of stunning. It also has an outstanding culinary scene with so many restaurants featuring both local and international cuisines.
As I'm a longtime vegan, I have rounded up a short list of the best vegan restaurants in Queenstown. However, this list highlights all of the very best restaurants in Queenstown. Naturally, I've included establishments that also have vegan and vegetarian options for our plant-based friends.

Queenstown is where we started our adventures in New Zealand. We spent a couple of nights in Queenstown to experience this beautiful place, as well as overcome our jetlag.
Once you're ready to embark on your road trip around New Zealand, consider renting a car or renting a campervan in Queenstown. You'll need a vehicle to get all around the country. A campervan is a convenient choice as you can save money on accommodations while reaching those hidden gems that wouldn't fit a full-sized RV.

Atlas Beer Cafe
Steamer Wharf is a lakeside dining and entertainment district, and Atlas Beer Cafe is among the vibrant restaurants there. It's all about good food paired with boutique craft beer. In addition, they boast having fantastic coffee, breakfast and lunch dishes, tapas and steak.
Try a local craft beer or a flight of four if you can't decide on one. The food menu is divided into bar snacks, tacos, burgers and steaks. I'd love to try their edamame, falafel, drunken mushroom tacos, and the Atlas vegan burger. In addition to the regular steak, there's also a vegan steak on the menu with homemade mushroom gravy.
Beech Tree Craft Beer
Keeping with the theme of local craft beer, Beech Tree Craft Beer features 26 taps of rotating brews made in New Zealand. It's also a dog-friendly bar, should you be visiting with your pup - including "dog beer" (bone broth) and their "woof burger".
The menu is divided into mains, shared plates, burgers and light bites. There's also a vegan section on the menu with a vegan mac and cheese, as well as falafel bites. Beech Tree Craft Beer is right in the middle of town so it's really easy to walk there or incorporate this restaurant into your trip.
Bespoke Kitchen
Bespoke Kitchen Queenstown was our first meal in the city when we arrived in Queenstown, of course quite jetlagged after our long journey from Canada.
The menu at Bespoke Kitchen rotates according to what's in season. So, there might be different options when you visit compared to when we dined there.

I ordered the red velvet pancakes and Justin got the bean super bowl. There's also quite the selection of desserts and treats, as well as daily salads and bagels if you'd like to grab breakfast on the go.
We loved the homemade raw Twix bars. Bespoke Kitchen has some of the freshest and tastiest cuisine in Queenstown.
Bluekanu
Bluekanu is a restaurant featuring a fusion of Pacifica and Asian style cuisines that they dub "Polynasia". It's fresh, healthy and makes use of ancient spices for a unique twist. Enjoy beer, wine, or a fruity cocktail like a lychee martini or Singapore sling.
There's a separate vegetarian menu with an assortment of large and small plates. There's a spicy cucumber salad and house made dumplings with chili oil. Some of my favourites include the crispy mushroom bao and the Singapore noodles.
Caribe Latin Kitchen
Caribe Latin Kitchen is a Latin American and Caribbean restaurant with two locations in Queenstown and Christchurch. Their food is flavourful, spicy, and brings a taste of the tropics to New Zealand. They have a line of their own hot sauces like chipotle, verde and "spicy lover".
On the menu, choose from antojitos, chimichangas, burritos, tacos, quesadillas and nachos. There are quite a few gluten-free and vegan options at Caribe Latin Kitchen. They also have beer, margaritas and even tequila shots.
Farelli's
Farelli's, also located in the Steamer Wharf Complex, is a traditional Italian restaurant serving fresh pasta, pizza and more.
Their dishes use fresh produce and authentic ingredients straight from Italy. Their wine also comes directly from their family winery in La Montina, Italy.

The menu has changed since we last dined at Farelli's. There's no longer a separate vegan menu, but there are veggie dishes marked on the menu. We ordered pizza and pasta that no longer exists on the current menu, but I'm sure you will find some decent options.
This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Queenstown, and there are a few other sister restaurants in town as well by the same owner.
Fergburger
Fergburger is arguably the most famous restaurant in Queenstown. There are often lineups to get your hands on one of their delicious burgers.
In fact, Fergburger has expanded their restaurant to three more locations on either side of their establishment: Ferg Baker, Ferg's Bar, and Mrs Ferg Gelateria.
It's a one stop shop for burgers, baked goods, gelato and cocktails, being voted as the best burgers, bakery and bar time and time again. Clearly, it's one of the best restaurants in Queenstown (even Ed Sheeran rates it as his favourite burger spot in the world).
Margo's
Let's travel halfway around the world to Mexico while dining at Margo's. This is a Mexican fusion restaurant in the heart of Queenstown. While based on Mexican cuisine, their chefs bring their collective experience from travelling around the world and create unique, vibrant and soulful dishes.
Margo's serves up starters, mains, tacos and delectable cocktails. They have a separate vegan menu with so many yummy options, like queso, guacamole, walnut taquitos, pulled jackfruit tacos, tropical buttermilk popcorn cauliflower, and even churros for dessert. On occasion, Margo's has a bottomless brunch, too!
My Thai Lounge
Modern Thai food overlooking Queenstown Bay? Check out My Thai Lounge, another incredible restaurant in Queenstown. They're preparing traditional Thai dishes with a modern twist for New Zealanders and tourists to savour. Visit for their daily lunch specials or their full dinner menu.
To start, sample the coconut tempeh, vegan dumplings, mini spring rolls or fried cauliflower. They have a veggie and tofu noodle soup, Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) and Chiangmai Noodles. Whether you order a rice dish, noodle dish or something else, there's something on the menu for everyone to enjoy.
Ramen Ramen
Ramen Ramen by Tanoshi is a Japanese restaurant where you can build your own ramen bowl. Choose your base, protein, broth, noodles and toppings. Then, make it a combo by adding a side or salad, like edamame, seaweed salad and others.
There are two vegan options for a base: veggie tan tan and miso ramen. Add the Osaka broth, Fukuoka style noodles, crispy tofu, and veggie toppings for a delightful plant-based ramen dish.
They have a wide variety of Japanese whisky cocktails, which is rather rare to see in a restaurant outside of Japan. There's also a selection of sake made in Japan and sake made in New Zealand, including the only sake brewed in Queenstown.
Saigon Kingdom
As we continue around the world through restaurants in Queenstown, let's venture over to Vietnam at Saigon Kingdom. Saigon Kingdom has two locations in Queenstown. Choose from light bites, pho (noodle soup), meat and poultry dishes, seafood meals, fried noodles, fried rice and more.
There is a separate vegan section of the menu at Saigon Kingdom. Order vegan spring rolls, tofu summer rolls, vegan noodle soup, lemongrass and chili tofu, vegan coconut milk curry and other selections. There are quite a few dishes on the menu overall, so you can visit numerous times and try something new each visit.
Vudu Cafe and Larder
Vudu Cafe + Larder is a modern cafe with excellent coffee and food made with seasonal and fresh produce. This is the perfect midday stop when you're looking for a quick pick me up. I love stopping at cute coffee shops when I travel, and Vudu Cafe is not to be missed.

Aside from the caffeinated beverages, their kitchen is open for breakfast and lunch. It changes with the seasons depending on what's fresh and available.
Try their cherry and almond butter pancakes, avocado toast, seared summer veggies or the soup of the day with toasted sourdough.
White + Wong's
White + Wong's is "east meets west" cuisine in Queenstown. It highlights classic street food from Asian countries, like China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand. Try their Massaman curries, made from scratch.
Choose from delectable dumplings, noodles, soups and so many sensational offerings straight out of east and southeast Asia. For plant-based options, there are wild mushroom dumplings, BBQ jackfruit and hoisin bun, tofu drunken noodles, Penang tofu and mushroom curry and more.
Winnies
Winnies is a longstanding pizza restaurant and bar in Queenstown that's great for dinner and a night out. They even have an opening roof for those warm summer nights. It's a great spot for families, couples, groups of friends and parties.
There are a wide variety of pizzas on their menu and I love that you can substitute vegan cheese at no extra cost. There's also an entire separate vegan menu with three different pizzas, pizza bread, pesto pasta, a vegan burger and kiwi fries.
Yonder
Yonder is a cool and quirky spot in town and one of my favourite restaurants in Queenstown. The inspiration for their menu comes from their worldwide travels, as well as catering to most dietary restrictions. They have many vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.
They have a lovely patio out front, which is perfect on a sunny day. Dining indoors is equally a treat with so much fascinating art splashed across the walls. We dined for brunch and enjoyed granola with passionfruit panna cotta (and fresh fruit), as well as the smashed avocado toast.

There are other great brunch options like the vegan butty, blueberry and lemon pancakes, and the roast cauliflower bowl. I'd love to return here for dinner someday, trying the crispy tofu bao or their vegan chicken. Yum!
