Have you ever planned your trip to a destination after seeing incredible photos?

I spend a good part of my day looking at travel photos. Whether I’m editing my own travel photos from past trips or looking at pictures that influence my journeys around the globe, travel photography really does inspire us. Justin and I are checking a big trip off our collective bucket list soon. We’re headed to the spectacular country of New Zealand for two weeks. What do you think about when someone utters, “New Zealand”? It might be stunning mountain vistas, sensational fjords, outstanding beaches, glow worm caves, glistening lakes, or the quirky little houses at the Hobbiton film set. I guarantee that much of our wanderlust for travel comes from the photos we observe browsing blogs, websites, and social media. I’ve wanted to visit New Zealand for years based purely on photographs. These pictures are such a guiding force as I’m planning a New Zealand trip.

Have you heard of Trover? It’s a fantastic app and website that will surely inspire your future travels and even help you choose where you’d like to go. In fact, I used Trover to help my New Zealand trip planning. Here are the ways that New Zealand photography locations have inspired my travel plans.
Photos That Inspire
These are the pictures that immediately make you want to pack your bags and go. You might be scrolling through an article or gazing at photos on your Trover app and see a landscape that really stands apart from the others. This is the scenery that leaves you in awe and inspired the photographer to snap the picture in the first place. Before we even started planning a New Zealand trip, you better believe that I had noticed some truly spectacular photos of the country. While finding a cheap flight to the country back in February was the beginning step to booking the vacation, it was an easy decision to go there in the first place. If you’re looking to save even more money, check out this budget travel guide to New Zealand. New Zealand is home to brilliant vistas, natural wonders, and landscapes that you won’t see anywhere else.
Photos For Discovery
What I love most about Trover is that I’m able to discover new places through travel photography. This is very helpful when planning a New Zealand trip. For instance, let’s say that I’m searching for photographs near Franz Josef glacier where I know that we’re visiting. Not only do I see beautiful pictures of Franz Josef glacier, but I am introduced to other nearby spots. Trover will show how the distance between my original destination choice and other nearby places. If it weren’t for Trover, I might not have discovered new additions to my trip itinerary, like Lake Matheson (the “mirror lake” near Franz Josef) or the Redwoods Treewalk in Rotorua.
Not only that, but I’m able to create my own travel list with Trover. When you spot photos that you love, you can add them to your own list to create a travel itinerary. I made one for this New Zealand holiday. When I take a look at all of the photographs I’ve saved, I can see them all mapped out. From there, I can plan my route including everything that I want to see and visit on the way. It’s so handy!
Photos That Excite
Okay, so you’ve planned your trip, or at least you have the rough outline of your journey. Right now, I’m at this stage on my New Zealand trip planning. I’ll continue to scour Trover and the web for more pictures before the joyous day comes when we hop on a plane and fly across the world. I’ll keep looking at photos of the destinations I’m headed in between my holidays. As I’m not a full time traveller, I spend most of my days in the Toronto area, either exploring local spots or dreaming of my future vacations. Checking out more and more pictures of New Zealand not only helps the planning process, but it also pumps me up for the vacation. Take a look at these New Zealand photography locations and tell me that these wouldn’t fuel your wanderlust!

As a blogger, of course I’ll end up sharing my New Zealand photos with you throughout my travels and once we return home. Even if you’re not a blogger, I’m sure you’ll end up sharing your travel pictures on social media with your loved ones and friends. I’ll be sure to add my New Zealand pics to my Trover account so I can inspire others to plan their jaunt just as I’ve planned mine. Are you planning a New Zealand trip?
