Experience the stunning beauty of the east coast of Iceland.
Continuing on our journey traveling counterclockwise around the Ring Road, we reached some intriguing destinations along the eastern coast. We’ve provided a small view of our travels in this East Iceland video.
We started day 5 of our trip at the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon. I highly recommend that everyone visit this unique natural phenomenon. Witnessing icebergs float down the lagoon is a truly unforgettable experience. You can read more all about our trip to Jokulsarlon, including details about the zodiac boat tour.
Next, we continued the drive along the East Fjords, marveling at the spectacular scenery on the way. We couldn’t help but stop at several locations to take photos and fly the drone around. Speaking of drone shots, you’ll see video from our drone featured throughout the video. Seeing this gorgeous country from above gives you an even bigger appreciation for its natural beauty (if that was even possible).
That evening, we stopped at Fljotsdalsgrund Guesthouse and stayed in our own private room…with the whole building entirely to ourselves.
To start off day 6 of our Ring Road road trip, we traveled to the bohemian village of Seydisfjordur, nestled beneath the mountains. It was one of the most charming places we’ve visited. We drove through snowy landscapes surrounded by steep fjords on the way to Seydisfjordur. We discovered a sleepy valley town with cute shops featuring handmade gifts, the blue church, and quaint coffee shops. There was even a lesser known waterfall right before we reached the town called Gufufoss.
From Jokulsarlon to Seydisfjordur, you’ll see amazing views and activities from the eastern coast of Iceland in this East Iceland video:
For the rest of day 6, we drove to Lake Myvatn and spent a couple more days there exploring the region. Stay tuned for that video.
