Travel Blogger Thursday: Carmen of Carmen’s Luxury Travel

For Travel Blogger Thursday, we’ve interviewed Carmen of the travel blog, Carmen’s Luxury Travel. She has plenty of experience traveling solo, as a couple, and with her whole family! She has traveled all over Europe, the USA, the Caribbean, and Central America. Let’s learn more about Carmen!

What inspires you to travel and what do you enjoy most about traveling?

I really enjoy visiting places that I’ve never been to before, I hadn’t done much international travel until a decade ago and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the Caribbean and Europe. And there’s so much of the world that I still want to see. I would like to look back at my life one day and say that I experienced a lifelong dream of mine, which was to travel the world.

Where is your favorite destination and why?

Tenerife in the Canary Islands is my favorite destination. For me it is a chance to visit family, to better understand my heritage, and to explore so many different islands.

When did you start to travel, and where did you first visit?

My first trip was to Puerto Rico when I was in my early twenties. It was a girls’ weekend getaway with my friends. We meet some great people in Puerto Rico who I continued to stay in touch with throughout the years. My first trip overseas was in my early thirties when I went with my grandmother and aunt to Spain to visit some of our family. I had never been to Europe so it was a great opportunity to meet the family and see Spain.

Why did you start your blog, and what do you enjoy most about blogging?

I started my blog as a journal to document my travel adventures and my pictures for my friends and family. I really enjoy sharing all our experiences and travel tips on all the places we’ve traveled too. When people that I didn’t know started reading and commenting on my blog, I was hooked and have been trying to improve it ever since.

What do you like to bring back from the places you’ve visited?

That’s easy, I love to shop. I’ll find a little something in every city/country that reminds me of our trip. It could be a piece of jewelry to a painting if it catches my attention. Every place we visit is unique. So I try to pick up things that are unique and special in those countries.

Where do you plan on visiting next?

I have travel plans in October to travel to Greece and Israel. I’ve been to Greece before but this will be my first time in Athens and Santorini. Israel has always been on my husband’s bucket list. We are excited to have the opportunity to travel with National Geographic Expeditions to Israel.

These pictures look amazing, make me want to jump on a plane right this minute 😉 Israel has been on my list since forever, but I’ve always been a little too afraid to just do it.

Tenerife is gorgeous! I’ve been there long ago and never realized it would be so beautiful. We might go again this winter and expplore the island by car this time. I’d also love to see the other Canary Island but Im afraid that they will all disappoint a bit…

Great interview guys! We were fortunate enough to meet Carmen at TBEX in Cancun a couple of weeks ago and of course discuss our Weekend Wanderlust link-up we are all part of. It’s always great to read different interviews and find out more about our fellow friends in the travel industry.
