An Instagram Travel Photo Review of 2014

In flight over the clouds. Love this view!!!

Where did 2014 go? It seems like it went by so quickly. However, when I look back on all of the wonderful places that we visited, we actually made quite a few amazing memories together this past year. Instagram can be such a great way of looking back on previous events to get a small glimpse of moments in time. Here is our Instagram travel photo review of 2014.

Arriving in Florida a day before our cruise of the Caribbean.

On board the Emerald Princess!! All set to sail away from Port Everglades.

On board the Emerald Princess at Port Everglades, ready to set sail around the Caribbean. I didn’t have access to the Internet very much on board as I didn’t want to pay extra for it, so the Instagram photos get few and far between at this point. Some of them were posted when we returned (#latergram!). When I go on my cruise this year, I’ll have reached Platinum status with Princess Cruises, in which I’m entitled to 150 free minutes on the ship’s Wifi…so you’ll be seeing way more live photos being published!

Visiting Grenada thinking that we were going on a snorkeling tour, which ended up changing into the best island tour.

One of the highlights of our trip to the Caribbean – swimming with sea turtles in Bonaire.

For the next couple of months, we enjoyed being Tourists in Our Own Town and exploring areas around Mississauga and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Around my birthday in June, we took a trip to the Finger Lakes region of New York State and hiked the Watkins Glen State Park and Gorge.

We stayed in an adorable cabin at Farm Sanctuary, an incredible organization that rescues farm animals, advocates for better treatment of animals at factory farms, and educates people about going vegan.

We enjoyed a couple of beach days in Ontario within a short driving distance from home.

Quartier Petit Champlain, Old Quebec #quebecregion #quebec #travel #travelgram #instatravel #instagramtravel #igtravel #vscocam A photo posted by Justin Plus Lauren (@justinpluslauren) on

We visited Quebec City for the first time, a charming historic town that we adore. We stayed in Lower Town close to quaint spots like Quartier Petit Champlain.

We stayed at two charming boutique hotels – Le Saint Pierre Auberge Distinctive and Hotel 71.

We ate lots of delicious vegan food, including this tofu stir fry dish from Le Tier Temps.

Quebec has many preserved historical sites, such as its fortification walls and architectural marvels.

A half hour jaunt outside of Quebec City will allow you to witness beautiful waterfalls and canyons, such as those at Canyon Ste-Anne.

Later in the summer, Justin and I embarked on a whitewater rafting adventure down the Ottawa River.

I volunteered at the Toronto Vegetarian Food Festival at the bookstore and ate lots of yummy vegan food.

I continued my goal of hiking the entire Bruce Trail along with my best friend and my sister, and we even hiked through a supposedly haunted tunnel.

We won a trip to Bermuda through a travel video contest called #MyDestinationStory by Fairmont Hotels. Justin and I fell in love with Bermuda and hope to return someday.

Merry Christmas from me, Justin, and Chickpea!

We spent the Christmas holidays together with our friends and families and it was wonderful! Oh…and the most important thing for last…

We adopted a cute and funny little kitten from a shelter and named him Chickpea (yes, he decided to sit that way on his own!). We got him last February at 8 weeks old and he is just over a year in age now. He has completely changed our lives! We love him so much.

Looks like you had a great 2014. Wishing you just as great or even better 2015! I’m sure Bermuda is great, but I loved your Watkins Glen photo. I think I’ve been there (we’ve definitely been to the Finger Lakes) but to be honest, that was 2001 so I don’t remember it very well. That was pre-blog and pre-digital photos, and I didn’t record it very well. 🙂 I’m trying to resolve to record my current trips and sightseeing better than last year’s. I still have so much to write about 2014!

Love these snaps, although they did make me a little jealous!

That one of Horseshoe Bay in Bermuda looks just like a beach in Cornwall called Kynance Cove.
