Aruba Video – Snorkeling and Exploring Oranjestad

Here is an Aruba video from our Caribbean Cruise aboard the Emerald Princess. You will see our snorkeling excursion in the Boca Catalina beach area, as well as exploring downtown Oranjestad. It was a beautiful, hot, and sunny day outside. There were some iguanas and crabs down by the water. The track we used is “Sinking with the Sun” by the Raveonettes.

What a great video. I am absolutely terrible at putting videos together. What did you use to film the underwater scenes? A GoPro?

We used an underwater digital camera, a point-and-shoot one by Panasonic Lumix. That’s what we use to take all of our underwater photography and video. I think we might invest in a GoPro for our next trip though! This one seems to work pretty well in the meantime and also works great for taking pictures on land when we aren’t able to take our larger DSLR. Thanks for watching!

Great video! The color of the sea is amazing, and fish are plenty. The sea is really, really clear. On a side note: you paint the building pink with blue balconies anywhere but Caribbean and it looks terrible. And here it just looks awesome 🙂

That is so true. If we painted a house here that was bright pink with blue balconies, people would think there’s something wrong with us! haha! But it does look great there. I love all of the brightly painted buildings in the Caribbean!

We really want to learn how to dive! Snorkeling is really fun but I imagine diving is a whole other experience! You should go diving very soon 🙂 Lots of fun!

I’m with Marysia, diving is great and I’d love to do it again.

      • You will not believe that but I never snorkelled in my life! I started to diving straight away and I’m not sure that it can be beaten by anything, but need to try to be 100% sure! 🙂

Fabulous video, especially the underwater camera. This looks like a fantastic place. We did consider Aruba for our honeymoon but opted to stay in Europe eventually. That is not to rule it out though, hopefully we’ll get there someday and maybe combine it with a cruise.

Thank you! I’m sure you will make it to Aruba someday – a cruise is definitely a cost effective way to see many Caribbean islands within a short period of time! It’s been a good sampling for us, and gives us an idea of where we’d like to go back to for a longer amount of time (like….Bonaire!!!)

The video is great – takes me right there snorkeling with you virtually (which is the way I prefer it, since I’m not a real “likes being in the water person”). Never heard “Sinking with the Sun” before – love it!

I’m glad you enjoyed the video and it gave you an underwater view 🙂 Yes, this band (the Raveonettes) are one of my favorites so I’m happy that I used their track 🙂 I’ve seen them live in concert and it was amazing!

Next time we have a trip planned somewhere that involves diving, I’m going to look into getting the certification! Or maybe…get the certification first to inspire a trip somewhere warm 🙂 You’ll have to let me know when you get yours!

  10. What an awesome video! You guys did a great job. I love your underwater shots and felt like I was alongside you. Aruba is one of our favorite Caribbean islands and we hope to be back soon.
